"If
my car runs low on coolant, can I add water?"
|
 |
Yes,
if water is all you have available. However, water will contaminate
and dilute the coolant, which has special protective qualities that
plain water does not, and that your cooling system needs. Your car's
cooling system should be flushed/serviced every 30,000 miles, or sooner,
if you need to add water. |

"The
dealer told me I must have all my services done there in order to
keep my warranty. It this really true?" |
 |
No!! |
 |
"My brakes have been making lots of grinding noises. What does this mean?" |
 |
Brake noise can be an indication of worn pads on shoes. However, some after market components used by those "economy repair shops" will make noise no matter what. Avoid this problem by having the best quality O.E.M. parts installed, like the kind used here at Dan's. |

"What
should I do when the 'check engine' light comes on?" |
 |
The
illumination of this dashboard warning light (especially if it stays
on) warrants investigation; but whether it should be treated as the
sign of an urgent mechanical emergency depends on whether it coincides
with a sudden change in your vehicle's drivability. If not, simply
call us for an appointment at your soonest convenience and we'll test
to determine whether the warning relates to an emission control failure
or some other engine problem, or is simply a false alarm, calling
for a resetting of the electronic "fault code". So the best
answer is: don't panic, but don't wait too long to have us find out
what caused you to "see the light". |
